Lowesville Gospel Concerts

In early 2012 Living Word Ministries bought the building from Lowesville Automotive Warehouse and began having services in August that year. The stage that was built hit a chord with me, and I started thinking, what an awesome place to have some gospel concerts. Pastor Derrick encouraged me to do just that, and in January 2013 we began with two concerts a month, and have had at least two every month since. In the beginning, very few people attended. BUT GOD, has been blessing our efforts and we have been able to have artists from all over the country to come minister to us in song, (one group from Northern Ireland) Just wanted to have a place where the community could come together and worship our Lord in song on a Saturday evening and it sure has been a blessing to a lot of people. We have people from all walks of life attend, saints and sinners gather to hear the good news from our many artists. At one of our services we had 76 different churches represented .  In 2013 our average attendance was 67, and has grown to 155 in 2017.
Just wanted to invite you to come join us in the fun, you will be blessed.

Red, White and Bluegrass Jam

Every first and third Tuesday night of the month, you can find the best mountain music in the high country at the American Legion Building in Blowing Rock, NC. Hosted by local bluegrass band “Surefire”, the RW&B Jam showcases local talent and is welcoming to musicians, singers, and dancers of any skill level. Every night is a completely different show and you really never know who might show up; from front porch pickers to Nashville’s finest. Food is served at 6:30 by the Brushy Fork Baptist Youth Group and the music starts at 7. We ask that you give a $5 donation at the door if you can and be prepared to have a good time with us!

“When Merle and I started out we called our music ‘traditional plus,’ meaning the traditional music of the Appalachian region plus whatever other styles we were in the mood to play.”

Doc Watson

“Bluegrass has brought more people together and made more friends than any music in the world. You meet people at festivals and renew acquaintances year after year.”

Bill Monroe

“I don’t like to travel as much as I have in the past, but it’s good for my soul to get to pick, especially with these good musicians and these guys that play so well.”
